The educational concept was born out of Juan Buti’s frustration at not finding a quality lullaby to put his son to sleep. The supply of good music boxes for children is unsatisfactory: very often the toys have poor intonation and mediocre timbre.
Juan Buti, who teaches music at the Riviera Conservatory, Montreux, talked about the project to Jean-Luc Denisart, co-founder of the engineering firm, Inov3, and likewise a musician. The idea aroused the interest of Antoine Cahen, internationally renowned designer, who has worked with Inov3 for many years. The objective then was to imagine a toy which relates the first gestures of an infant to its musical experience. With that in mind the choice of pieces is designed to educate the infant’s ear.
Warm thanks to Sdataway and the Haute école d’ingénierie et d’architecture de Fribourg HEIA-FR for their support and their skills in the development of the bam without whom this project would not have been possible.
